Here at Bathshop321 we like to help homeowners to create their dream bathroom and advise them on the best ways of doing so. We were intrigued by the selections of durable flooring Karndean have to offer, so we decided to conduct an interview with them to find out just how practical their flooring would be for use within the home. If you’ve been considering Karndean flooring to accompany your new bathroom suite then we recommend you have a read through to see if this flooring option is for you and how to use it effectively within your home!
Q. What are the main features of Karndean that make them such a sought after flooring solution?
When it comes to choosing flooring, most homeowners limit their search straight away with the assumption that in wet and/or messy areas, such as the kitchen or bathroom, they need to go with a stone floor. In other living spaces, especially bedrooms and living rooms, that assume they need to go for carpets – or for those who would like hard surfaces, their first go-to option is wood flooring.
What’s great about Karndean is that you’re not limited to a certain look – you can have wood in the kitchen or bathroom and if you want a stone look in your bedroom or living room, you can go for it without having to worry about the floor being cold or uncomfortable underfoot. Besides being practical and durable, Karndean products are also sought after as a more personalised flooring solution. From adding strips and borders to using different laying patterns or creating bespoke inserts, Karndean is much easier to work with and lay meaning our customers can end up with a floor that’s truly different and fits with their needs and their own personal style.
Would you recommend Karndean Flooring for use within a bathroom? If so, what properties make it suitable?
We most definitely recommend Karndean Designflooring for use in bathrooms, though it’s not suitable for wet rooms. It’s easy to clean, hygienic and with a vast choice of colours and designs you can easily find something perfect for your décor.
What wall coverings would you recommend to accompany Karndean flooring in the bathroom?
You can get away with just about any type of wall covering with Karndean. Normal wall tiles are always an option, but we think wallpaper, bathroom specific paint or even wood panelling/tongue and groove look great.
Is Karndean suitable for use with underfloor heating?
All of our floors are suitable for use over underfloor heating systems, but it’s important to make sure the system is insulated so its surface temperature doesn’t exceed 27°C.
Is there any way to see what each different type of Karndean Designflooring would look like in an actual room before a customer purchases it?
Besides looking through the full range on our website http://www.karndean.co.uk or in our brochure, you can also use our interactive floor viewer, Floorstyle, which lets you see any of our floors in typical room settings.
