At Bathshop321, we’ve been continuing our support of water conservation by carrying out a large study across the UK to collect as much domestic water wastage data as possible. We tasked our quiz-ees with filling us in on how much water they use and waste in the home, and then using a few magical maths skills, we calculated an average amount of water wasted per family in each region of the UK.
With this data, we were able to draw some very interesting conclusions, as well as create a bright and colourful Infographic that showed exactly where each region’s average family was most wasteful. And as if that wasn’t enough, we put together a huge write-up too, taking a look at possible causes of water wastage in each region, and finally ranking each region in terms of water efficiency!
Why Support Water Conservation?
Well, there are a few good reasons to support water conservation and reduce wastage in your own home as much as possible.
Firstly, cutting down on water wastage is hugely eco friendly. Reducing how long you spend in the shower or how much you fill the bath will reduce the amount of energy required for its use as well as water. Similarly, cutting down on dishwasher and washing machine usage will help reduce gas or electricity usage.
Secondly, you will notice a significant saving in your annual water, gas and electricity costs if you make substantial reductions in the amount of water wasted in your home over 12 months. While gas and electricity costs are constantly on the up rise, this is a fantastic way of cutting back on costs while doing your bit for the environment too.
What’s next?
We’re hoping our readers will learn a lot from our recent study and share our pretty Infographic with friends and family, and even link to our piece from their own blogs and websites. Our main goal is to spread awareness about water wastage and give as many people as possible access to some quick and simple information to help them save tons of money on their bills and reduce their carbon footprint at the same time!
We’ve previously created the water saving tips Infographic that talks more specifically about how to save water and goes into more detail about the many areas in the house in which people often waste large amounts of water. You can find our original water-saving infographic here for additional tips and methods of slashing bills and wastage in your home.
