Following Borussia Dortmund’s result over Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final recently, we learned that Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke had found it unbearable towards the end of the match. In the final minutes of the game, Mr. Watzke retreated to the bathroom where he remained until after the final whistle – as he was too nervous to watch the remainder of the match.

I went to the toilet for the last minutes, locked myself in, covered my ears and looked at my watch. I had all kinds of thoughts going through my head.

Just in case those nerves show their ugly head again in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich on May 25th, we’ve sent Dortmund’s chief executive a package full of things to keep him entertained while he’s locked away in the bathroom.

A good luck package for Hans-Joachim Watzke

As Hans-Joachim might have to spend a lot of time on the toilet during the final, we’ve posted a survival pack of goodies that he can use while locked away in the bathroom.

The Contents

So what’s in the package? Well we wanted to make sure he had everything he needed should he be confined to the bathroom come May 25th. We’ve included the essentials (two toilet rolls), a pocket radio so he can check-in with the match should he want to, some light reading materials (“Strike-IT!” and “Champions League Matchday” magazines), and of course a stress ball should it all get too much.

Of course we couldn’t send our package without wishing the Dortmund team good luck in their final…

The Final Package

With everything safely packed in, we sent the package to Germany last week.

As of today, we are yet to receive a reply from Hans-Joachim or anybody from Borussia Dortmund, but we hope the package found them well.
