If you have a niggling voice in the back of your mind telling you to update your bathroom then listen to it. Don’t worry about costs, you can dramatically transform and improve your bathroom space by making simple and inexpensive changes. Check out these cheap remodelling ideas which will give your bathroom a contemporary edge, without the contemporary price tag.

Replace your purse with a paintbrush

There are many cheap statements homeowners can make which will inject a little personality at a low-cost. Replacing old-fashioned wallpaper with a fresh lick of paint can create a whole new atmosphere. This is one of the cheapest remodelling techniques – colour is key so here’s a few tips.

If it’s a classy feel you want then why not try a little monochrome elegance? Painting a feature wall black with white surrounding walls, will form a sophisticated yet stylish feel in a matter of seconds, but most importantly at a low cost. Add a twist by painting the feature wall with black and white vertical stripes; this will not only modernize your bathroom but create the illusion of a larger room.

Have a little fun by adding a splash of colour into your low-priced redesign. Brightly coloured feature walls such as fuchsia pink and lime green can insert a refreshing ‘pop’. If it’s a ‘wow’ factor you’re looking for then try adding floral or paisley wallpapers with toned down surrounding walls, this will be inexpensive but very effective.

Accessorise at a low-cost

Accessories can be the finishing touch to a bathroom, so let’s do this effectively with a small price tag. First you need to decide on the colour scheme you would like, don’t neglect your preferences and try to use colours which will leave you relaxed and satisfied with your space. Bold and noticeable accessories will add character to an outdated bathroom space. Hot reds and royal blues, for example, will add energy to a tranquil bathroom design.

You can try this inexpensive transformation by adding towels, mats, soap dispensers or even vibrant flowers to your windowsill. Remember, the accessories need to be the same colour to create a theme which will run throughout your bathroom.  Just a few simple items can create a new feel to a bathroom in just a matter of seconds, so why not hit the shops and purchase a small number of bathroom accessories now.

Don’t buy new, just redo

Usually over-looked details are grout and caulk, when this become grimy it can become very unsightly. If you simply try cleaning the grout and add straight, clean lines around bath tubs and sinks you can inject a little sparkle for a mere few pennies. You will be surprised at the difference this will make. Grout and caulk are sold very cheap, so this is a very inexpensive way to freshen your bathroom.

A final word. Don’t replace large bathroom fixtures and fittings; just add simple yet very effective touches to your bathroom. Choose colours which will complement the shape and size of your space, but most importantly will leave you satisfied with your redesign.
