But without a doubt, one of the most uncomfortable parts of summer is the perils of showering when it is very humid outside. In the winter months we actively seek the refuge of our bathrooms, happy to spend hours soaking in the hot bath or using up all the hot water in the shower just to stay warm. In summer however, it is a different matter entirely. Here is our tongue-in-cheek guide to the 7 stages of showering in summer, as told by Game Of Thrones. Enjoy!

1. The Sweaty Stage

You’ve been out all day or have been sleeping in a bedroom with the temperature of a sauna – either way, you’ve built up quite a sweat. It’s time to face the reality.

2. It Dawns On You

…You are going to need to face the sheer hell of a shower in summer. The hot and humid room that is the bathroom is beckoning.

3. Naive Optimism

The thought of feeling clean is appealing, but the reality of having to step into the humid bathroom and add yet more water and steam into the mix is unbearable. You think: well this time I’ll be clever and have a cold shower, that will freshen me up and leave me feeling cool in no time. You step into the shower feeling optimistic until… you feel the searing heat of hot water. The last person to use the shower has left it at an unholy temperature.

4. Resignation To Your Fate

You finally get over the shock of receiving 3rd degree burns, and manage to adjust the water temperature to your liking. Either you resign yourself to the hot water, or brave it and turn the temperature down to cold. You manage to achieve a begrudging comfort as you wash yourself, all the while just wishing it to be over. The humidity rises.

5. The Sweet Relief Of Cool Air

It’s time to get out. This is without a doubt the most satisfying part of the summer shower experience. In winter, getting out of the shower is torturous as the icy air hits you, but in summer it is a blessed relief!

6. The Brief Period Of Comfort That Follows

Success! You have never been more comfortable and at a reasonable temperature! You may do a little victory dance at this point.

7. But then…

About half an hour after getting out of the shower, you will start to feel yourself begin to heat up yet again… and it’s back to stage 1.
