If you’re looking for a simple and easy project, that will take little time but have a big impact on your bathroom, you may want to consider replacing your mirrors and cabinets. Whether they have fallen into disrepair, or you simply want to inject a little more style in the room, this is a great way to improve the appearance of your bathroom.

Mirrors

Most commonly, mirrors are connected to bathroom walls with adhesive glue. This can be difficult to remove, but not impossible. Firstly, you should loosen the mirror. You can do this by getting a pry bar and placing it under the edge of the mirror. Now, you should gently pry the mirror away from the wall, so that you can hear the adhesive releasing the mirror from the wall. Be extremely careful when doing this. The act of removing the mirror can often lead to the glass shattering. Make sure that you wear plenty of protective clothing and goggles, put down plenty of paper and tape over the glass. This will make sure that, if it shatters, the glass will not go flying all across the room. After carefully doing this, the mirror should come away from the wall, leaving some leftover adhesive residue on the wall. You can remove this with a grouting rake, so that the wall will be flat and ready for the new mirror.

Once all of this has been achieved, you can begin to install your new mirror. Turn your new mirror onto its front. Then, get a hot glue gun and inject large blobs of glue into the corners of the mirror. Make sure that you do not put the glue too near to the corner, as it may spread out and seep over the corners. Then, pick up your mirror and line it up against the wall, so that it will be straight. Now you push it up against the wall, ensuring that it sticks to the surface. Finally, if you want the mirror to be truly secure to the wall, pull it off after a few minutes to let some air in and then quickly stick it back against your bathroom wall.

Cabinets

Bathroom Cabinet

Now, I will explain how to replace a bathroom cabinet. Firstly, protect your work area by covering the sink with a sheet, to prevent any possible damage. Now, you should remove everything that you store inside the cabinet, including the shelves. For the next step, you should have somebody hold up the cabinet, so that it will not fall off the wall. Then, use a drill to remove all of the mounting screws from the inside. Once you have done this, you can pick it up and place it away from your work area.

Now that you have done all of this, you can now install your new cabinet. To make it look as if it has been mounted by a professional, you need to make sure that it is centred above the sink. Use the taps as a guide for the centre line and make markings with a pencil to show where you will put it. Now, get a stud finder to locate where there are studs in your walls, so that you will not drill through them. After this, you should drill a mounting hole through the centre of the inside wall of the cabinet, right at the top. Position the cabinet up against your prior markings and drill four more mounting holes, spread out on the inside fact of the cabinet. Now, remove the cabinet to install wall anchors, which are lined up with the mounting holes in the cabinet. Then reposition the cabinet and insert the mounting screws, securing your cabinet to the wall. Finally, insert the shelves and appropriate items into the cabinet.
