Save it, Give it – World Water Week 2013 - Environment

World Water Week begins today in Stockholm to address the world’s most pressing water issues. Following on from World Water Day back in March, and as part of the International Year of Water Cooperation, World Water Week is an ‘annual focal point for the globe’s water issues‘.

World Water Week begins today in Stockholm to address the world’s most pressing water issues. Following on from World Water Day back in March, and as part of the International Year of Water Cooperation, World Water Week is an ‘annual focal point for the globe’s water issues‘.

So why is this important?

Continued awareness of water scarcity is extremely important. While the UK and many other well-developed countries benefit from easy access to fresh water supplies, other areas of the world are significantly suffering.

The International Year of Water Cooperation in 2013 highlights the need for more to be done to provide greater access to fresh water supplies. Less than 1% of all fresh water on earth is accessible for human use (see our World Water Day infographic), and 768 million people in the world do not have access to clean water (source).

Could we be doing more to help those who need it most?

Save it, Give it

As part of World Water Week 2013, we’ve teamed up with water charity Just a Drop to help make a difference.

In the home, people will be surprised to learn how much water they are using, and subsequently wasting on a regular basis. As part of our cooperation with Just a Drop, we’re attempting to raise awareness for water conservation at home, and educate people on the need for support in less developed countries.

Save it with Bathshop321 for World Water Week

As part of the ‘Save it‘ side of our campaign, we at Bathshop321 will be highlighting the amount of water being potentially wasted in the home. Using our water consumption calculator, you can calculate approximately how much water you use per week in your household.

The bathroom accounts for 2/3 of the water used in the home, which is why we are striving to provide eco and water saving alternatives to traditional products. We have a range of eco products that help to save water in the bathroom, and throughout September we’ll be donating up to 10% of sales to Just a Drop (more details below).

Give it to Just a Drop for World Water Week

Just a Drop is an international water aid charity that has carried out over 100 projects in 31 countries, which is why we’re encouraging you to ‘Give it‘ for World Water Week, and support them through a donation. We’d like to encourage people to donate directly, or alternatively consider one of our water saving products in the home, with up to 10% going to Just a Drop. Every little helps to make a difference.

Use our water consumption calculator to show the comparison between how much water we typically consume at home, compared to how much is needed in less developed areas of the world. It really is eye opening.

Eco Month at Bathshop321

Throughout the entirety of September 2013 at Bathshop321, sales from all of our water saving and eco friendly products will help Just a Drop.

We will donate 5-10% of sales from our eco range to charity each time a product is sold. If you buy one of our eco products during September, you are not only reducing water wastage and expenses in your home, you will also be making a difference to people’s lives in the areas where it is most needed. Just a Drop work tirelessly to deliver accessible, clean, and safe water to those less fortunate, and our combined support will help them in their mission.
